Your donations have reduced the cost of electricity and provided Air Conditioning to the children at Casa Hogar
This past year has been a transformative period for Casa Hogar. A major challenge for the home has been the high cost of electricity, which is one of its largest operating expenses. Through the generous support of donors, Phase 1 of a solar energy initiative was successfully completed, installing 20 solar panels that saved Casa Hogar approximately $450 per month in electricity costs. This significant reduction in expenses has paved the way for an even greater goal: providing air conditioning for the children, many of whom struggle to sleep in the intense Acapulco heat.
We are thrilled to share that Phase 2 of the Casa Hogar Solar Project has been successfully completed! Thanks to your generous support and the generosity of a local Central Florida businessman, an additional 20 solar panels were installed, bringing Casa Hogar’s electricity costs close to net zero. This milestone builds upon the success of Phase 1, which had already reduced electricity expenses by approximately $450 per month. With both phases now complete, Casa Hogar can redirect its resources toward improving the well-being of the children rather than struggling with high utility costs.
Most importantly, with the savings from the solar installation, we have now installed air conditioning in the children’s dormitories! For the first time, the kids at Casa Hogar can sleep comfortably, free from the heat-related discomfort they have endured for so long. The installation of 13 air conditioning units was made possible through careful planning and the expertise of Victor Escudero, whose team ensured that every aspect of the solar and cooling project was executed to the highest standards.
This achievement represents a long-term investment in Casa Hogar’s sustainability and the children’s quality of life. With solar panels that are insured for 25 years and expected to last even longer, the home will continue to benefit from reduced expenses for decades to come.
